As I began to set up my iPad, several unexpected thought processes came to mind, mainly centered around how I expected to use the device.
When you have a computer, a laptop, an iPhone, and an iPad, you begin to consider how you will use these devices. Some examples to consider:
- Apps: Do you want all iPhone apps on the iPad?
- Notifications: Do you want notifications everywhere? For which services?
- Data: Which files go where? Consider formatting issues and document managing issues with transferring to iPad iWork apps
- Music: Am I going to listen to music from my iPad?
Basically it is a balance between optimizing a given device for a given task, and being able to access anything and evreything no matter which device you have — Are you worried you are going to get that UPS delivery notification, or are you anoyed by getting notifications on two devices...
Do you divide up devices and data by notifications/casual, work/play, push/pull, convenience/emergency, etc
I suspect only time will tell...after spending time with the devices in the real world, patterns will be more obvious.
