Packing Pro: This is a sophisticated travel packing/to-do/checklist app. It comes with a predefined database of hundreds of items, and predefined lists for short weekend trips, long trips, camping, etc - all customizable of course. You can even identify how many males and females are on the trip and it will modify the lists. Packing lists have categories, such as "Pre Trip", "Equipment", "Food", "To Do", "Essentials", "Clothes", etc. Its a great way to not forget the charger for your iPad!
Navigon: A GPS app. It utilizes the large screen of the iPad, and includes integration with your contacts, 3D-rendering of topography, Point Of INterest database integration, and real-world navigation assist for multi-lane highways that show you the overhead signs and indicate how many lanes are safe for your next exit. Spoken street navigation. You can purchase either just your region, the entire US, or North America (as well as Europe, Asia, etc).
HotelPal: This is great tool for finding a hotel. You can enter the location (or use GPS) and enter your dates, and it will find available hotels. You can browse via a map view, by distance, by price, or by rating. Each entry shows a picture of the hotel and a summary of amenities. You can scroll throw other pictures of the hotel and view greater hotel detail and reviews. Once you finds a hotel, you can book it from within the app. It has a great interface, and I have used it to find hotels, and it works much better than a web browser.
Kayak: Kayak is like HotelPal, but you can also search for flights and car rentals. Another great interface.
AccuWeather: You need to know what the weather is going to be like there! I prefer this app to Weather.com's app.
