The Cases I Use:

The Apple
SmartCover is a great cover because it is so compact and versatile, if you don't need additional protection. It's amazing that this thin little cover does so many things:
- It protects the screen
- It has a typing stand
- It has an upright video viewing stand
- It automatically turns the iPad on and off when opening and closing the cover
- Its very easy to remove when not needed
- Its super light-weight
- It adds very little thickness to the iPad
- In addition to holding the iPad in its own protected section, there is a secondary compartment which holds:
- Room for bluetooth keyboard
- Room for power charger and syncing cable
- Room for headphones
- Also includes a travel stand
For the Original iPad:

I purchased a
Vaja case (for everyday use of my original iPad 1):
- It is super-high quality, and well made
- You can customize the color schemes to your liking (as well as getting it embossed with text or graphics)
- It provides excellent protection
- With the cover off, it works for light-weight, around-the-house use, keeping the aluminum back from getting scratched
- With the cover on, it works great fro protection inside a briefcase, to-and-from work
- Because it is thin a light-weight, it works great for taking to a meeting
- Because the cover snaps flushly onto the back for use, you are left with no additional "stuff" to manage at a meeting, and the case feels like one piece, as opposed to some folios that have the folded-over case cover adding a "bouncy" extra thickness to the iPad
