  1. Site Readiness Certification Submission Deadline:  February 29
    1. Reminder:  All districts must submit their site readiness materials by February 29, 2008.  Instructions for submitting the workbook are included in the Excel file. The submission process has two steps:
    2. Upload your district's completed site readiness workbook (an Excel file) to the Test WES site.  DACs will eventually need access to Test WES for other assessment-related tasks, so we recommend that DACs rather than technology coordinators complete this step.  
    3. Fax or mail us a hard copy of the signature page (only).   
    4. Workbooks can be downloaded from the main Resources page of the MN Online Assessments Website.  
    5. For assistance downloading or completing the Network Assessment component, contact the Pearson Help Line, 1-800-627-7990, x 824 or mnonline@pearson.com.   
    6. For MDE policy questions related to online testing, contact Diane Gamm, diane.gamm@state.mn.us, 651-582-8335. 
    7. For assistance setting up your Test WES account, contact mde.testing@state.mn.us.  
  2. Estimated Times for Science MCA-II and MTELL 
    1. The following are our estimates for this spring's online tests.  The estimates do not include time for setting up computer labs or logging in students.  Each test has two sections and one seal code. We expect many schools to complete each test in a single day, with a possible break between sections. 
    2. The Science MCA-II will be administered for the first time this spring.  Based on times from the spring 2007 field test, we estimate that almost all students in grades 5 and 8 will complete one section within 60 minutes; at the high school, we estimate 75 minutes per section.  
    3. The MTELL is an alternative to the Mathematics MCA-II for English languages learners in grades 3-8 and 11. We estimate that almost all students at all grade levels will complete a section within 45 minutes.  
  3. The Online Initiative Section of the DAC Corner 
    1. Some of us find the technology aspect of the DAC position daunting. The Online Initiativesection within the DAC Corner on the MDE website is a good place to look for help in getting oriented to the online tests. The section has resources for both assessment and technology coordinators.  Under Related Links on the left side you’ll find a link to Pearson’s online testing website, as well as a link to the discussion forum for technology staff.  Documents available include information on headphones, an overview of online testing with important dates, and the Site Readiness Certification memo. 
  4. Pearson servers will be unavailable
    1. during the following weekend and evening hours. During these times districts will not have access to any eMS services. 
    2. Friday, February 8, 9 p.m. to Sunday, February 10, noon 
    3. Saturday, February 16, 11 p.m. to Sunday, February 17, 8 a.m.     
    4. Thursday, February 28, 9 p.m. to midnight
