On the Digital Signage Scope of Project page, we mentioned that we needed software to create, manage, and schedule sign content.
We chose to use Sedna Presenter software. There are two components to the Sedna Presenter software, the "Sedna Scheduler" and the "Sedna Player". The Scheduler is used to create and manage content and players. The Player software is installed on a Mac which is connected to your display device, and is used strictly for playback.
Sedna Scheduler
The Sedna Scheduler software has an interface to manage "assets" (images, websites, compositions, movies, etc), that you use to build "Playlists", which you then schedule on the calendar:

It is kind of like building a slide show presentation, you add elements to a "screen", and each element can have attributes such as font, color, transparency, animation in and out, etc. The schedule can have repeating events, and you can copy schedule templates across any number of days.
You can preview your content before committing it to the Players and the displays. Once you are happy with your content and schedule, simply press the commit button and all of the data is sent to the Players over the network. The content is only sent over the network once. Once the Player has the content data, then Playback happens locally, so no network bandwidth is used.
